Birds of Prey Fly Over Highcrest

All eyes were on the skies at Highcrest this morning as Master Falconer Brian Bradley of Skyhunters in Flight –  and his feathered friends –  paid the school a visit.  Hawks, falcons and owls put on a free-flying aerial presentation, while teaching about the importance of birds of prey on the environment and in the animal kingdom.   The show was sponsored by the Wethersfield Creative Arts Council.

Food Bank Collection After School

The Wethersfield Food Bank, Keane Foundation and Keane on Kids After School Enrichment Program are teaming up to help support the Wethersfield Food Bank.  In an effort to help smooth out the inconsistencies of the flow of donations to the Food Bank, which tend to be greater around the holidays, Wethersfield families who participate in the after-school program are being asked to donate a box of granola bars anytime until the end of September.  There is an orange bin at every school where the granola bars can be dropped off, or your student may give the box to the on site coordinator after school.  Thank you!!

PTO Fall Book Fair

New High Jump Mat for Highcrest

High_jumpWe are off to a wonderful school year here at Highcrest!  The students are settling back into their routines and by now, everyone has had the opportunity to participate in P.E. and experience our new high jump mat!! The purchase of the mat was just one of many PTO initiatives approved in June.  It was paid for with money from fundraisers and donations collected throughout the school year.  Purchases like this, which make our school better for our children, would not be possible without the parents, families and supporters of the PTO who contribute all year long.  Thank you!!
